Pink Shorts Campaign

We're calling on all rugby fans, big and small, to get behind South African rugby players living with cancer. All the teams of the Varsity Cup have already done this, and they're inviting you to join in!

To show their support, every Varsity Cup Player that Rocks (Man of the Match) will wear pink shorts in the next game he plays, starting from 1 February to 29 March 2010!

To show your support, we ask that you make a R5 SMS donation to the Varsity Cup Trust, an organisation aimed at helping current and past rugby players living with cancer improve their circumstances. Simply SMS your favourite team's name to 36199 and your donation will go to The Varsity Cup Trust.

Cash donations can also be made to this campaign, and every R5 of the donation will count for a unit towards the inter-university competition.

Let's find out which team has the biggest following and of course, the biggest heart!

More about the Varsity Cup Trust

The folks of Varsity Cup have put together a trust (trustees will be named) to deal with the funds received from supportive fans like you! All the funds in this trust will be allocated to rugby players - present and past - struggling with cancer.

Who is eligible for this support?

The Varsity Cup Trust has been established to look after the needs of rugby players living with cancer. Anyone who took part in the sport and are today fighting the fight against this disease can benefit from the Trust. It is therefore not only aimed at well known players, but also school players, university players and private players (local clubs etc.).

Applicants can start applying from 1 March 2010.
