Coaching changes at Pukke
Burger van der Westhuizen will coach the FNB Pukke Under-20 team in the all-new Varsity Young Guns competition which kicks-off in the first week of next month.
Van der Westhuizen will take the reins in the absence of André Tredoux, who has moved to the Cheetahs, where he will coach their U19 side.
He comes with plenty of experience, having been coaching at Koshuis level in Potchefstroom since 1988. Van der Westhuizen has also coached at Potchefstroom Gimnasium, before joining Leon Boshoff's Leopards set-up during the 2011 Currie Cup.
At the same time, former Leopards coach Chaka Willemse has also joined the NWU-Pukke coaching set-up. Willemse will look after the Under-21 A2's in 2012.
The all-new Varsity Young Guns competion - a two-group tournament between the top eight Under-20 university sides in the country (groups will be split up according to a seedings system - will get underway on Monday, February 6.
