Vikings want bragging rights

Monday's Pretoria Derby against FNB Tuks is an ideal opportunity for the FNB TUT Vikings to get their 2012 Varsity cup campaign back on track.

Coach Deon Boardman, despite TUT's 50-point loss to the FNB Maties last week, is positive that his charges will deliver a better performance against their near-neighbours.

According to Boardman, his players will have a better understanding of what is expected from them - especially in light of the fact that 15 of his squad of 23 were Varsity Cup first-timers last week.

Also, at the same time, playing against Tuks always seems to bring out the best in the TUT players - as they showed in last year's encounter when the Men from Tshwane triumphed by 46-34 (at Tuks' home ground), that after being down 0-19 at one stage.

"This derby is one of the most anticipated clashes on the Varsity Cup calander because no side likes to lose against the other one," commented Boardman. "This match is all about the bragging rights of Pretoria."

Boardman has made just two changes to the side which went down in Stellenbosch in Week One, with both locks, Steph Nel and Ewald Mare, being replaced by J Breett and Gavin Engelbrecht, respectively. Pieter Matthews and Thabo Mangena, meanwhile, will join the action from the bench.

TUT alumni - and well-known musican - Dozi will sing the National Anthem before kick-off on Monday. Kick-off is set for 5pm and the match will also be televised live on SuperSport One.
