Double Varsity delight at CT Tens
There was double delight for the two Varsity Cup-winning universities - Maties and UCT - at the 2012 Cape Town Tens, with the Men from Stellenbosch winning on the field and the Ikeys (or one of them in particular!) winning off the park.

The FNB Maties duly won yet another title in the Premier Division of the Tens - under the coaching of veteran Bennie Booysen and the captaincy of Morgan Newman - making it their fourth successive triumph at this popular event.
It was more deserved success for the Men in Maroon, having first won this title under Booysen's captaincy in 2009.
However, the big excitement and applause came from another field when former FNB UCT Varsity Cup flyhalf Doug Mallett found himself competing for a brand new Golf GTI - thanks to a great competition sponsored by Stor-Age.
Mallett, along with two other random contestants, was drawn out of the crowd to take part in a cross-bar challenge (a place-kick from the half-way line had to hit the cross-bar on the rugby goal-post) and coolly landed his effort on the woodwork to walk off with the Golf GTI in front of a delirious crowd.
For Doug, the son of former Springbok coach Nick, it was something of a belated birthday present, with the Ikeys rugby player having turned 23 just two days ago (on February 2).
Talk about making your birthday wish!
