Kovsies set for rugby fest
The next few days are set to be quite eventful at the University of the Free State as its Steinhoff Koshuisrugby league hits the final stretch.
On Thursday night the UFS1 and UFS2 sides will take to the field against each other in the next round of the all-new Cheetahs League.
This may very will be a testing ground of sorts for Kovsies Rugby to scout for some young and upcoming talent for the FNB Shimlas side.
Next term - with the Cheetahs League and the 2011 National Club Champs a thing of the past - will most likely see Shimlas head coach, Jaco Swanepoel, putting together some training groups and preparing for the 2012 Varsity Cup.
Adding to this is Friday's Steinhoff Koshuisrugby finals. With four final matches from different leagues being played back to back, Shimla Park promises to be the buzz of Kovsie campus on the day.
JBM were thought by many to be a cindarella story earlier this semester, as they moved out of the bottom two and up to the top of the log within five weeks.
Yet, despite all this excitement, they lost their footing againste Abram Fischer (Vishuis) last Friday night. The side from Vishuis, clothed in their black jerseys, looked like an All Blacks squad in the way they dominated this match. At least the side from JBM will still have a shot at victory in the Plate Final against Armentum. After all, third place is better than no place!
In the other Koshuis First League Final, Vishuis and Heimat will once again face off for the title at Kovsies, just like they did in 2010.
Vishuis had a disappointing 2011 Steinhoff Koshuisrugby Championships campaign, finishing bottom of their pool at the tournament, having won the trophy against Steinhoff Dagreek (Maties) the previous year.
Whether the Men in Black will dominate again and step closer to redemption, remains to be seen on Friday night.

Steinhoff Heimat 2 v Steinhoff Armentum 2 - 5pm
Plate final: Steinhoff JBM v Steinhoff Armentum - 6.30pm
Steinhoff Heimat v Steinhoff Vishuis - 8pm
