UKZN Mean... well
A determined University of KwaZulu-Natal team will travel to Cape Town to take on FNB UWC in their opening Varsity Shield clash at the UWC Sport Stadium on Monday evening.

University of KwaZulu-Natal Impi captain Justin Meanwell will look to lead from the front as the Pietermaritzburg-based team aim to start their campaign on a winning note.
Hooker Meanwell is one of a number of players in the starting line-up who represented KwaZulu-Natal at schools level.
Other exciting players include loosehead prop Kurt Schonert, lock Gerrit Fourie, livewire scrumhalf Calvin Channing and former Sharks academy outside centre Willem Rheeder.
UKZN head coach Bryan Bateman admits that he does not know much about the UWC team waiting for them in Bellville and has chosen to rather focus on his team and what they want to achieve.
"I don't know anything about them really, but I'm expecting them to be really strong, especially on home turf," he told varsitycup.co.za.
"It's about whether we can put it together on the day, I will prepare my team for what I want us to achieve and hopefully we are good enough to execute that."
The game, which will be televised on SuperSport (delayed at 7pm), promises to be a hard-fought affair with both teams out to start the all-new competition on a positive note.
