Wits to bye-d their time
FNB Wits will go into Round Four of the 2012 FNB Varsity Shield finally able to enjoy a bye - much-needed relief for the Men from Witwatersrand after a tough playing schedule thus far.

As things stand, Wits are on top of the log with two bonus point wins out of three matches... but FNB CUT - who beat them in Round One - are breathing down their necks with eight log points and, most importantly, with a game in hand.
Wits head coach Andrew Royle, is very happy with where the team is standing after three matches and would have taken this with both hands if offered (so) before the tournament.
Flyer Riaan Arends is Wits' top try-scorer with three tries out of a total of 15 tries that the team has scored in their three matches, whilst flyhalf Kyle Peyper has contributed 38 points of the total 113 points that the Witsies have scored thus far.
Wits' next match is on Monday, February 20 against FNB UKZN (in Pietermaritzburg) and they then head back to Johannesburg to host their toughest challengers, CUT, on Monday, February 27.
For now, however, Monday's bye will come as a welcome break as the team has already played three matches within seven days.
