FNB Vishuis will look to hold onto the FNB Res Rugby Championship trophy when they meet the indomitable FNB Patria in the final on Monday in Stellenbosch.
FNB Patria will be confident going into the clash considering their victory over the Bloemfontein side earlier in the season. FNB Patria scored three tries past FNB Vishuis to beat them 24-8 in Round Five. Winger Shima Mphahlele got on the score board with hooker Gerik Mynhardt grabbing a brace on the day.
Both sides have had a successful season with FNB Vishuis winning three out of four games claiming three bonus points, while FNB Patria went unbeaten.
Getting over the line is not alien to either team with both of them racking up some large score lines. FNB Vishuis recorded some large scores including a 40-0 victory over CUT's FNB Lions, a massive 48-21 win over Maties's FNB Huis Marais and claimed another sizeable 45-0 score over University of Pretoria's FNB Maroela.
FNB Patria were less dominant with their score lines but managed to grind out wins, first with their 34-29 over FNB Maroela and a 23-21 win over FNB Huis Marais.
The men from Potchefstroom will look to their flying winger Mphahlele who has been one of the top try scorers for his side, as well as hard-working flanker Rian Kotze who has proven to be a nightmare for the opposition breakdown. FNB Vishuis will rely on the radar like boot of flyhalf Henco Posthumus to get them in the lead over their rivals.
The trophy, as well as egos, will be on the cards when two most successful sides in FNB Res Rugby Championship history meet for what will be the highlight of the Res Rugby calendar.
