With the 2023 FNB Varsity Cup competition at the halfway mark, all participating university teams are getting the chance to showcase their involvement in making a difference in the lives of their communities with the #ShowUs campaign.
FNB Wits chose to align with an existing community project, The TLC Village, which aims to give every child in their community the opportunity to be raised in a loving home and to address the key problem areas in their community that contribute to child abandonment.
Varsity Rugby and the Wits Rugby Club have a special connection to TLC as one of the original beneficiaries, Joshua Jarvis, was a player on the team and remains connected closely to the Wits rugby community.
Wits captain Dameon Venter says the TLC Village is an extremely important initiative as young children get the opportunity to lead a fruitful life.
“I have seen how the right encouragement, training and support has changed people’s lives and that is exactly what the TLC Village stands for. They support growth and create an environment with enough room for growth to happen. We are very excited to meet the people at the TLC Village and show them that they are capable of many great things.”
Varsity Cup is also calling on fans to take on the challenge and #ShowUs how you are choosing to lead the way to change in South Africa. Tag us in your social media posts and #ShowUs what you have done to make a positive impact in your community.
