All to play for in UKZN-UFH clash

FNB Varsity Shield

The University of Fort Hare will need a lot to overcome their next challenge, the University of KwaZulu-Natal in their upcoming clash at Howard College next Monday.

The men from Alice aren’t having a great campaign so far and things are not getting any better as they face  a currently third-placed FNB UKZN  side who look like worthy title contenders this year.

It is not a secret that FNB UFH are yet again not having a great campaign this season. FNB UFH have only seen victory once this year having played four games already. After failing to secure a semi-final spot in last year’s campaign, the Eastern Cape-based team were surely looking to erase that history, but unfortunately are failing to do so.

With time ticking away for FNB UFH, they will have all to play for in their upcoming fixture against the Impi. The team will be looking to draw some inspiration from their captain Somila Jho, who has been in outstanding form of lately. But a ‘rugby team’ is a ‘team’ made up of its 15 players.  However, if there could be a replica of the character and  a fighting spirit shown in their clash against FNB TUT Vikings, who knows what the score line would end up being?

FNB UKZN on the other hand, will be all guns blazing as they have been on form in this year’s tournament. The FNB UKZN Impi on the other hand, have only lost one match from the four they have played so far. For them, the visiting team has come at the perfect time as their morale and confidence are sky high following their latest epic last-minute, 28-27 victory against FNB WSU at a packed Buffalo City Stadium.

With almost the whole team on form, their eyes fixed on a home semi-final, as well as home ground advantage, all is in place for the FNB UKZN team to collect maximum points from Monday’s game. While FNB UFH will be hoping that their in-form captain inspires them to a famous win in Durban.

On paper, the match is vastly in favor of FNB UKZN, but as there already have been so many surprises thus far, FNB UFH will not be going to Durban to submissively hand in all points to the Impi.

The match will be played at Howard College Stadium, on the 18th March, @18:30.
