The theme for the 2023 FNB Varsity Cup Pink Shorts campaign is #ShowUs. A call to action for all teams, fans and the broader community to get involved in fixing South Africa.

There are many opportunities to make a difference in the lives of all South Africans. With #ShowUs we hope to mobiles the Varsity Cup fraternity to get involved and do something good.
While teams across the country are getting ready for the 16th edition of the FNB Varsity Cup, the eight Varsity Cup captains recently got together in Johannesburg to kick off the #ShowUs campaign, with some help from FNB.
“It was a huge privilege for us to host the Varsity Cup captains and give them an overview of just some of the projects and non-profit organisations (NPOs) we support,” said Johannita McLeod from FNB Care. “The captains were introduced to three FNB-supported projects that deeply affect the Eldorado Park community.”
The captains were briefed on the work of Awareness for Child Trafficking Africa (ACT Africa) and Eldorado Park Family Crisis Centre (EPFCC) are doing to combat child trafficking, as well as gender-based violence (GBV) in the community. The captains also signed a pledge to commit their support in the fight against GBV.
Living Kids Sports Academy hosted a short training session with the Varsity Cup captains and learners from Missouri Laan Secondary School. The Academy aims to give children hope and dreams through participation in sport

The Varsity Cup captains also assisted in the planting of a vegetable garden. AS-U-R Community Empowerment and Development assisted the local community in the establishment of a community vegetable garden.
There is strength in collaboration. All participating universities in this year’s Varsity Cup and Varsity Shield competitions have therefore been challenged to participate in a community outreach programme or consider aligning with an existing project within their campuses to help build and maintain a strong connection with their communities and the needs of their community.

Varsity Cup is also calling on fans to take on the challenge and #ShowUs how you are choosing to lead the way to change in South Africa.
Immerse yourself in your community, whether you’re passionate about animal rights, or helping the homeless, whatever the cause, find a way to donate your time and make a huge difference in the lives of others.
